P20 Spring Fest Unites Community in Celebration and Purpose, Raising $1,782 for Anti-Human Trafficking Efforts

[Herndon & Tysons Corner, Virginia] — [May 30, 2025]

P20 | EMS Studios hosted an unforgettable evening of celebration, connection, and purpose at its annual Spring Fest this May, bringing together clients, trainers, and supporters for a night that honored fitness achievements and gave back to the community. The event raised $1,782 in support of Reset180, a local nonprofit committed to fighting human trafficking in Northern Virginia.

The business, owned and operated by mother-daughter team Connie and Carmen Ruiz, has always been guided by a deeper mission. The original idea for P20 was sparked by Pedro Ruiz, husband and father, whose vision and passion helped shape what P20 would become. After Pedro’s passing in January 2024, Connie and Carmen chose to honor his legacy by requesting donations to Reset180 in lieu of flowers. Their connection to the organization began through the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce, where they learned about the urgent needs surrounding human trafficking — and the powerful work Reset180 is doing to address it.

The cause has long resonated with the Ruiz family, making the partnership with Reset180 at the Spring Fest a meaningful and personal one.
The evening featured a moving presentation by Alton Bryant, a speaker from Reset180, who provided an eye-opening update on the local human trafficking crisis and detailed how the nonprofit is actively working to Prevent. Disrupt. Restore. His message struck a chord with the audience, prompting passionate discussion, volunteer sign-ups, and generous donations.

$1,332 was raised during the event, with an additional $450 contributed afterward. Some clients have since indicated they would be inviting Reset180 to speak at their own events, and several attendees have taken steps to get involved in volunteer efforts.

“At P20, we do more than fitness—we build stronger, healthier, and happier people through EMS training,” said Connie Ruiz, Co-founder of P20. “It was Pedro’s vision to uplift others, and we’re proud to carry that forward by strengthening our community, too.” In addition to supporting a vital cause, the P20 Spring Fest was a celebration of personal milestones, perseverance, and community spirit. Inspiring fitness achievements were shared, cheered each other on during awards presentations, and danced the night away—P20 style.
